Where is Rivendell located? PDF Print E-mail

The central campus of Rivendell College is located in Boulder, CO, along Broadway (in the neighborhood affectionately known as The Hill). Rivendell’s Administrative Offices are located at its east campus, at 5495 Baseline Road.  Onsite programs are currently also located in Fort Collins and Greeley, Colorado.  The Fort Collins program operates out of the student residential community known as The J.R.R. Tolkien House, at 708 City Park Avenue.  In Greeley, courses are held at Waypoints Faith Community, 719 21st St., adjacent to the campus of the University of Northern Colorado on its eastern side.

Rivendell College, by design, is situated in facilities bordering university campuses. We do not have geographically distinct campuses, but have chosen, rather, to weave our presence and programs into the fabric of the larger university community wherever we are.

At most sites, Rivendell students have the option of living in residential communities in former fraternities and sororities owned or leased by Centers for Christian Study International (CCSI, Rivendell's parent organization). Rivendell classes are held in buildings adjacent to university campuses.

Rivendell students are encouraged to interact with university campus life by participating in student organizations, using public facilities such libraries and student centers, attending public university lectures and conferences, and enjoying university athletic, music, and theater events open to the public.

In turn, university students, faculty and staff are invited to enroll in Rivendell College classes and to participate in Rivendell College and affiliate Study Center events.

What is the history of Rivendell College? PDF Print E-mail

In 1983 Dayspring Center for Christian Studies opened its doors in the shadow of the University of Colorado. Its purpose was to bring Christian thought and perspectives to the academic square of a major research university.

Since its beginnings, students from the university and surrounding community have taken courses in Christian studies which have been recognized and approved for transfer credit by the University of Colorado.

From its inception until May of 2007, Dayspring was an extension site for Denver Seminary.  In 2004 Dayspring entered into a partnership with Northwestern College of St. Paul, Minnesota to expand its course offerings and to further secure approval of transfer credit for its classes.  New study centers were launched in Fort Collins and Greeley, Colorado with transfer credit arrangements with Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado.

In 2005 Dayspring changed its name to Centers for Christian Study International.  (CCSI) and the Study Center in Boulder became an affiliate center of CCSI.  For more information about CCSI, please visit www.studycenters.org.

In 2006 CCSI launched Rivendell College as its academic arm and formally began the process of seeking its own authorization and accreditation at the state and regional level as Rivendell College.

In 2010 Rivendell moved to a new educational model that allows the College to deliver its academic programs fully online, or through combinations and blends of onsite and online learning experiences.  For more information, please visit www.erivendell.org.

The Centers in Fort Collins and Greeley are what we hope will be the first of many affiliate Study Centers offering Rivendell programs in university communities across the United States and abroad.
